Treadmill training principally
allows equine athletes to improve their endurance and strength.
For example, their heart and lung functions can be optimised.
Research in the USA has shown that racehorses that are partially
trained on a treadmill perform better than horses that have
had no treadmill training.
Even young horses benefit from regular treadmill exercise.
Initial training at an even walking pace particularly helps
to develop coordination.
Furthermore, rhythm and balance can be gradually achieved
without the weight of a rider.
By strengthening back muscles and improving stamina, young
horses can also be optimally prepared for their future as
equine athletes.

What experts say:
"The modern horse-breeding and training industry
is forced to present its animals in optimal condition
at shows and markets. Treadmill training has greatly helped
us to achieve success with our mares and stallions."
